Week #16 ~ Recap

23 years together, (18 married), 3 countries, 2 friends, 1 museum, 1 castle, 1 ferry, 363 miles, 1 super long town name, and $651.65 over budget. Our overage is a result of buying plane tickets for the France to Italy leg, and the London AirBnB.

We came to the United Kingdom to meet the Schengen Zone requirement (we have currently used 20 out of the 90 permitted for every block of 180 days), but we’ve also been grateful to communicate easily with folks without relying on Google Translate.

We started the week in Ireland, took a fast ferry to Wales where we spent two nights, and then ended the week in London seeing our friends Caroline and Lincoln from Denver.

We probably won’t talk about Conwy, Wales anywhere else in our blog, but it’s the cutest little medieval town ever! We stopped there for a couple of nights ~ partly because it gave us the opportunity to go to another country and partly because it is a recommended stop for anyone who wants to see a small slice of Northern Wales. We found Conwy to be well-worth the stopover. The castle and walls that enclose most of Conwy were worth exploring and fun to be on in and around. The picturesque harbor is full of sailboats and fishermen bringing in the local mussel harvest, and the food was very good at both places we ate for dinner. We stayed at a converted church that, like most things in Conwy, was right around the corner from the train station. We would return, if only as a base for exploring nearby Snowdonia National Park and other Northern Wales attractions.

Next week ~ London!
