Safonia

28 days until departure.

Choral singing is, by its very nature, an ephemeral act.  There must be trillions of songs sung every day by the birds, by parents rocking their children to sleep, by professionals and amatures alike.  Singing is a miracle.  Think about it ~ you breath in, unconsciously and magically make subtle changes in the way that breath leaves your body….and voila~ music!

Maybe the vibrations of the sung notes don’t ever really go away……maybe the wavelength gets iteratively smaller and smaller…..but is always there?  Maybe you change the Universe in subtle but powerful ways every time you sing because you add to that collective beauty as the vibrations reverberate in ways you cannot comprehend?  Perhaps it is always.

We have talked a lot recently about experiences here in Denver that may be “last time” kind of things…..eating dinner with these particular friends, the final Safonia concerts, going to a show at the DCPA…..and even in the midst of those experiences remembering that very shortly we will be travelling for a year!  Sorrow and grief mixed with excitement and anticipation…..every….single….day.

Thanks to Safonia for memorable concerts that will resonate with me always.  Thanks to Alison Schmidt for hosting a cousin’s dinner on Thursday evening where we got to see many of my cousins from near and far.  Thanks to Kay Luna for representing the Wassons this weekend and bringing our mom ~ a music lover and a fan of Safonia’s ~ into the experience with us.
