At our last Safonia concert, everyone was encouraged to write cards to Marla and I to wish us well and send us on our way. One of the cards had this zen saying on the front (thank you, TL) which I think captures exactly what this crazy year of travel will be.
It’s a lot harder to leave everything behind when you are an established adult with a house, a career, and a deep community. We would not be able to do this without the support of many people, so we have a lot of thank yous.
Thank you to our friend and neighbor across the street, Nancy, who provided a both a place to stay this last week as we moved out of our house of 20 years, and her garage to store our things in while we’re gone.
Thank you to our friend Deb, who took in not one, but both of our cats for the next year. They are both totally thriving under her care and have adapted to their new foster home beautifully. Thank you also for coming over last minute Monday morning to help us get everything out of the house before the cleaners came!
Thank you to Safonia and the Arvada Chorale for the lovely gifts and heartfelt send offs they gave us.
Thank you to the friends and family who have made the effort to gather with us in these last few weeks ~ dinners, coffee, lunch ~ the time together has been precious to us.
Thank you to our friends Ellen and Nikki who are providing a safe, climate-controlled space for our most valuable belongings.
Thanks in advance to Mom and Dad for being our U.S. address, collecting all of our mail, and keeping our car for us while we’re overseas.
And….thanks for buying us beers at our happy hour at the Empourium last night. Those of you who were able to make it were a joy to hang out with, if even for just a minute.
We could say that we are leaping out into the unknown over the next year on complete faith, but the reality is, there have been a lot of people holding our net. Thank you, everyone for your support. We couldn’t do this trip without you.
