Days 36 – 41

This past week we got to visit dear friends Cathy and Lizzy Beachland and their adorable boys Fynn (a.k.a. Fynnlandia) and Camryn (a.k.a. Camzilla, Camburger, and O Camada) at their home in Spokane. The Beachlands took us out to dinner and to Green Bluff where we picked peaches and nectarines and Camryn showed us the proper way to enjoy summer stone fruit. While we were there, Lizzy applied her amazing organization and consolidation skills to help us downsize the contents of our car a bit more. Just yesterday, Marla mentioned she could almost see out the back window!

After we left Spokane, we headed to Missoula to visit my cousin Pelah and her husband Mark. We missed their boys, Gray and Finn who were in Wisconsin with their grandparents, but had a fantastic grown up time with Mark and Pelah.
Pelah took us on an evening hike up the High Wide and Handsome trail, a trail just above Missoula, that she led the effort to create by establishing the open space and trail, procuring and negotiating for the land, and all sorts of other things. We also spent plenty of time hanging out and catching up on each others lives—somehow 4 years flew by since the last time we saw each other.

On our way out of town, Pelah recommended this really awesome art exhibit called Sculpture in the Wild in Lincoln, MT, about an hour and half from Missoula. It was so cool to see so many pieces of art that were both inspired by and created in the environment where they are displayed.

We are so lucky on this trip to have friends and family that have welcomed us (and our laundry) into their homes. They feed us, offer up their showers, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, and wifi access and we are so very grateful! As many miles as we’ve traveled and different places we’ve seen, having the chance to see and spend really quality time with loved ones has been one of my very favorite parts of this journey.
