1119 miles, 4 countries, 7 cities, 1 airplane, 2 rental cars, 3 UNESCO sites, and $117.02 OVER budget. Whew! No wonder we’re tired!
Budget overages were due to $160 on gas and about $1200 on lodging.

After 4 days rest in Scotland, we flew to Ireland and have started a whirlwind driving tour around the stunning countryside. Driving on the left-hand side of the road is a little easier since we got to practice in Scotland but still tricky. Some Irish roads are tiny bendy lanes that leave no room for error. We literally closed our eyes one day as a huge tractor and implement passed us after we had pulled to the side. He probably missed us by a mile, but we don’t know for sure!
Marla and I were in Ireland this past April on a family trip to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Halfway through we got COVID and removed ourselves from the planned trip to self-isolate in a castle. Poor us, I know! Because we needed to leave the Schengen Area for about 3 weeks anyway, we thought it would be an excellent opportunity for an Ireland do-over. Even though it’s been a lot of driving, it’s been totally worth to see this side of this beautiful country.
We will end our time in Ireland in Dublin to celebrate our wedding anniversary and then off to London for 6 days!
