Week #18 ~ Recap

1,077 miles, 1 plane, 2 trains, 2 countries, 3 cities, 1 UNESCO World Heritage site, 4 museums, average of 12,000 steps/day, 238.54 UNDER budget for the week.

Marla practicing her gelato course in Florence

We have now entered the part of the trip we have been most eagerly anticipating ever since we started planning it: a month in Italy. The food, the art, the architecture. Everything is so incredibly old and rich with history.

This week we are challenged to adjust to the Italian meal schedule:

  • 9 a.m. – breakfast: a pastry and coffee
  • 10:30 a.m. – cappucino or espresso
  • 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. – lunch
  • 4 p.m. – gelato
  • 6 p.m. – apertivo
  • 8:30 p.m. – dinner

We have yet to integrate the full schedule, but we are determined to nail it before we leave Italy. The challenge seems to be in the evening: we’ll do either gelato + dinner, or gelato + apertivo, but never all 3. Only practice will help us to unlock the full feeding schedule.

This is SO smart for you gals to spend a MONTH in Italy. Can’t wait to see pics when you explore a beautiful country!

  2. So very happy to see that you gals are taking full advantage of taking in all moments. I want to know what Marla’s and your favorite gelato flavors are! Perfect sized cup too.

We were only there for a little over a week and I’m definitely not built for 8 pm dinners-but count me in on the gelato. It’s the best!!
