Week #22 ~ Recap

2 countries, 2 museums, 3 UNESCO world heritage sites, one flight across the Mediterranean Sea, 1 concert, 1 dear old friend, 1 new friend who guided us through a tapas menu in Catalan, and $121.83 OVER budget.

Our friend Deb joined us for some fun in Barcelona for a couple of days. It was so great to see her!

Flying from Naples, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain was only two hours, but the difference in the food, the people, the vibe in general is markedly different.

We were able to walk the ancient ruins of Pompeii and tour through 20th century architecture by Gaudi and paintings by Picasso all in the same 48 hour period. From pasta and gelato to tapas and sweet pastries ~ both wonderful experiences, but we’re glad the Meander is moving on from the “pasta peninsula”.

We are so happy to have been able to spend time with our friend Deb from Denver in Barcelona. She and her partner Ken are caring for our cats and it was so good to see her beautiful face come through the arrival doors at the Barcelona airport. From Barcelona, we go to Madrid for a few days where we will see another friend, and then to Lisbon, Portugal.

Next week will be our last full week in Western Europe as we will be in the “home for the holidays” portion of our trip beginning December 10th. The jury is still out exactly where we are going in December, but I’m sure Santa will bring us the right gift of details and knowledge at the right time.
