Week #24 ~ Recap

2 countries, 1 ocean crossed by 1 plane ride of 3,562 miles, 0 tchotchkes purchased from Christmas markets, 1 intro to a beautiful vocal art form, a rainy welcome home by two loving parents, 1 tour purchased for SE Asia, 2 very expensive plane tickets back to the States, and $441.06 OVER budget.

Noel and this can of Pepsi are ready to head home for the holidays

We enjoyed our time in the capital city of Portugal where we stayed in a lovely AirBnB that had been newly refurbished. We ate some amazing food and listened to some heartbreaking Fado music. We continued to average 12,000 steps per day and in the hilly city of Lisbon added all of the steps up and down the hills to our repertoire.

Home again home again jiggity jig.

On December 10th, we flew into Washington, Dulles in Northern Virginia. We were met by Erin’s parents even though our flight was delayed by over two hours. Adjusting to Eastern Standard Time has taken a couple days, but by the end of this week we’re at least going to bed at the right time. We’re still getting up waaaaaay too early, but hopefully that will be remedied soon as well.

We are in the U.S. for 5 weeks so we’ll be suspending our blog entries until mid-January when we start gearing up to fly to Bangkok and the next portion of the meander.

We wish you a happy holiday season that is safe and healthy for you and your loved ones. Know that we are grateful for your love and support throughout this journey. We have carried you with in our hearts as we have done and seen so many amazing things in our meander. We will continue to feel you beside us as the adventure continues and will cherish this time at home before heading out again.
