6 rides on the Metro, 3 days spent decorating for Christmas, 2 nights meeting Virginia cousins for dinner/drinks, 1 lunch with Maryland cousins, 1 concert featuring amazing music performed by a dear friend, 1 amazing museum, 1 fabulous dinner with local friends cooked by Erin McDermott, 1 Christmas Eve service, 2 hikes in nature, 18 days of rest, recovery, and laundry hosted by the parents.

We spent more time at the parents house than we have anywhere in the last 6 months. We hung out with family, enjoyed great food, established enough of a relationship with the closest Starbucks that they knew our order, saw good friends, drove our own car around Northern Virginia, and had a great time.

We also…..made plane reservations for Thailand, and did some research for upcoming legs of our journey in Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Coming up: a trip to Kansas City to spend New Years Eve with a dear friend and a family wedding in Wichita. Then we part ways for Erin to go to California for a few days to help her sister out for a minute while Marla returns to Denver. This will be the first time in 6 months we’ve spent any significant time apart…….I’m sure we’ll miss each other, but we’ll let you know.
