244 miles driven, approximately 80 hugs exchanged around 10 tables, 1 church service and 1 Safonia rehearsal, 1 vet appointment with 2 cats and 2 amazing hosts who let us crash at their homes while we were gallivanting around the Denver area. We didn’t track daily budgets while visiting friends and family, so nothing to see here…

Week 28 found both of us back home in Denver for the first time in 6 months. We have been welcomed with giant bear hugs and wide smiles from our amazing community here. We stayed with our friend/neighbor Nancy and woke up every day across the street from our own home. Marla met the tenant as he was shoveling the walk one day, and that was a fun little trippy event.
Bunking with Nancy for the first portion of our return was special in so many ways. Driving down the block was like driving home to our own house, and her generosity and support are so awesome its just easy to live with her for a minute. Her dogs let us feed and walk them while she went out of town for the weekend and it’s always fun to be a puppy mom for a bit.
In the middle of the week we moved this crazy show to Linnette’s house in Arvada. She showed us a very FULL refrigerator she had prepared for our arrival, introduced us to her two beautiful cats, gave us a set of keys and was hospitable and welcoming in ways that only a genuinely loving and caring person can be.

Many of you have asked how the cats are doing and we are happy to report that they are thriving with our friends Deb and Ken. Johann has actually GAINED weight (which is a miracle), and Sebastian has started to become more social as he comes out from under the bed and continues to explore his temporary home. Deb and our vet Bay Pearson have worked so well together to keep these two precious kitties as well as possible while we’re on our trek and we couldn’t be more grateful. Anything could happen, but we are pretty hopeful the boys will sail past their 20th birthday in March and be waiting for us when we return in June.
Tuesday evening we visited Safonia rehearsal. Sadly they were done singing for the evening so we “only” got to sit around with them for a bit and talk and hug and go for a drink when we got it was time to close down the rehearsal space. (Yes, the talking/hugging part is the best part of rehearsal for us even though the singing part is cool too…….). We have written about our feelings for these women more than once……the love and respect we have for them as individuals and as a group still holds.
We realized at the end of the week we had hardly taken any pictures. You’ll just have to take our word for it that we actually DID see these people, DID eat/drink with them and DID immensely enjoy hanging out with them. It’s just not our habit to take pictures while we hang out with the friends we see regularly.
Next week; prep for the SE Asia leg of the trip, more people to see, more places to go, more hugs to give and get.
