Marla & Erin on Phu Quoc Island ~ definitely NOT cold

How is it that we are so close to the end of our stay in Vietnam?! We started the week in Northern Vietnam in the Pu Luong area, flew to Hoi An/Da Nang approximately in the middle of the country then on to the very Southern tip of Vietnam on the Island of Phu Quoc. Vietnam has a very looooong coastline and we’re grateful that we’ve finally been able to hang out at the beach this week. Aaaaah…….

We were surprisingly cold in Pu Luong…to the point of wearing long sleeves and the coats we brought from Denver where it was below zero the day we left! We were also very cold at the highest point in Vietnam at the Ba Na Hills Station. I’m sure the views were great but we spent the majority of our time inside eating lunch and at the underground indoor amusement park!

We had one small moment of panic in the Saigon airport when the shuttle bus from the plane dumped us off at baggage claim….which is OUTSIDE of security. Our arrival was late so we only had about 45 minutes to figure out how to get to our next flight. Just to be clear….no signage said ~ “go this way for connecting flights”, and most of the people on our flights were collecting their luggage so we couldn’t even follow the crowd like we sometimes do. Thankfully there was an airport information kiosk and the nice women were very helpful. You never know how security is going to go, but we made it to our gate with about 10 minutes to spare. In a reversal of our usual dynamic, Marla was the one stressing in the moment about the situation instead of Erin….who would’ve predicted that?!

We’ve definitely entered the rest and relaxation portion of the trip. We figured out that we have 8 days of beach time in the next 14. What’s not to like?

Next week; Saigon then afterwards on to Bali for more beach time!
